Two Important Dates

Mark your calendars!

March 3, 2009 Cat in the Hat Festival

March 26, 2009 Book Dessert Banquet

Kindergarten, Preschool, and First Grade classes--the Seuss Cat in the Hat Activity Day has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at the Madison City Auditorium. The times you will be coming will be announced later as we draw closer to the event.

We also have set up a date for the 2nd Annual Book Dessert Banquet. This year it will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009. We are really excited about our second year out on this activity. We have incorporated many of your suggestions and are anticipating another successful event. We have already heard from two other teachers who would like to join our 'celebration of reading.' Since we feel that 30 tables are the most we can accommodate, we would like to suggest that you limit yourself to one table, if possible. We will decorate in an island theme this year----and have the Dragonfire Girls performing!!! (If any of you have palm trees or other island decorating items we can use--we would be so appreciative.) Our actual program will be kept short with plenty of time to view tables. We also are working on a plan to make sure all attending will be seated so the 'bleacher issue' will be kept under control. We certainly welcome any additional suggestions you might have thought of over the summer. We hope to see you all there!

Book Dessert Banquet

Wow, what a great turnout for the first Book Dessert Banquet. The evening was filled with people of all ages. A slide show featuring all of the tables played while everyone admired 30 different tables decorated with features from a chosen book. Introductions were made and a slide show showcased the Cat in the Hat festival that took place earlier in the week. Charlotte and Sarah Endorf, authors of By Train They Came, spoke to the audience as well. Kindergartners were recognized with all of the Kinderbooks they have made this year. A Tribute was made to Sandy Maybon for all of the work she does for the Madison County Museum. All attendees concluded the night by reading a Reading Oath. This event definitely began a reading adventure for the community of Madison.

This video includes pictures of the books showcased and the teachers who decorated the tables. Snapshots of the evening are also included.
